Membership Applications

All membership dues are for one calendar year from January 1 to December 31 and are not pro-rated.
Classes of membership:

REGULAR

  • Typically only full-time employees of an insurance company
  • Individual Application - $85 CAD
  • Group Application - $1050 CAD

  • Group Application - $1500 CAD

  • Regular Membership Type Details

    1. Full-time employees of an insurance company, whose primary responsibility is the investigation or supervision of investigation of insurance fraud.
    2. An employee of a self-insured corporation who is employed and assigned to a Special Investigation Unit and whose primary purpose is the full-time investigation and/or supervision of investigations of insurance fraud. The individual and organization must be engaged in anti-fraud activities and must be in conformance with the goals and objectives of the Association.
    3. An employee by the federal or any provincial or municipal government, or by any entity owned or controlled by any of the foregoing governments, (such employer entities to include but not be limited to federal, provincial and municipal government employers in the area of welfare, workplace safety, employment insurance and Canada Pension Plan.
    4. Full-time employees of the Insurance Bureau of Canada

ASSOCIATE

  • Associate Membership Type Details

    1. Associate Members shall be those Persons not otherwise meeting the definitions of Regular Members, or Law Enforcement Members, who provide special or expert services concerning the investigation, detection or prevention of insurance fraud, and who otherwise are qualified for and have been admitted by the Board as Associate Members in accordance with section 1.01.

    By-law 1.01

    Qualification and Admission Membership in the Association shall be limited to those individuals, partnerships, corporations, companies, groups or other entities (collectively, "Persons") who have a continuing interest in furthering the objects of the Association and whose application for membership has been approved by the board of directors of the Association (the "Board") to become a member of a particular membership class in the Association.

    Applicants for membership must be sponsored by a current member in good standing.

    The Board has sole discretion as to whether applicants for membership are admitted as members, and in what class.

    An applicant approved for membership will not be admitted until he has paid the membership fee for the year in which his application was approved.

    Membership fees are not pro-rated.

    1. Law Enforcement Members shall be those individuals who are employed by the federal or any provincial or municipal government, or by any entity owned or controlled by any of the foregoing governments, (such employer entities to include but not be limited to federal, provincial and municipal government employers in the area of policing.

LIFE MEMBERS

    Membership Type Details

    Life Members shall be those individuals who:

    1. Are or at some time in the past have been a member of the Association for no less than ten (10) years;
    2. Have rendered distinctive service to the Association through participation or association with committees and/or the Board for no less than five (5) years; and
    3. Otherwise are qualified for and have been admitted as Life Members in accordance with this section and section 1.01.

    Nomination for Life Membership can be made to the Board (or any committee of the Board charged with Life Membership assessment) by a member of the Association up to sixty (60) days prior to each annual meeting of the members of the Association (an "annual meeting"). Where there is a committee, such committee shall decide if a nomination for Life Membership shall be endorsed and then shall submit their endorsements to the Board no less than thirty (30) days prior to the annual meeting. The Board shall in its discretion determine whether it wishes to approve any nomination for Life Membership, provided that no more than three (3) Life Members can be appointed in any one year. Life Members shall have the same rights and privileges in respect of the Association as Regular Members, but Life Members shall not be required to pay membership fees.
